This was my first trip to Baton Rouge, and even though I have been to New Orleans a few times I was unprepared for the overwhelming experience. My grandfather who graduated from LSU's law school introduced me to beignets an early age. I grew up listening to his stories of Louisiana's political corruption during the time of Huey P. Long. So, in his honor I set out to gather a bit of his favorite flavors. (The shrimp and grits at Galatoire's was my favorite.)
Tomorrow, I fly back home with a full stomach and wonderful memories.

Lived in Atlanta for 7 years and never visited Louisiana - after looking at these pictures .. what a shame.
Maybe we plan a huge reunion of all the cousins in New Orleans one of these days...pralines, prawns, pictures...and more.
