The first photograph is meant to convey pure movement. It is not really a picture of a scene/object in reality. I've had some crazy days at work and just wanted to experiment with representations of motion, without reference to what was causing motion. (That may not make sense.)

I took a picture of what the camera "saw" as I used a wide aperture, with a 1.3 second exposure, while moving the camera in a circle-ish pattern, at dusk as I was walking the dog through a wooded field.

The second photo focused on a leaf hanging, perfectly still, from a spider web's thread. Which is how I wanted to feel.

So the irony is that the fabricated image of "motion" was my perception of reality. While the image of perfect stillness was my perception of illusion. (It still may not make sense :).

Photography is/can be a wonderful act of meditation. Lately, the camera has been a good therapist.

Wow!! That was awesome! I saw the pictures and I had my own interpretation and it was totally different than your intent. I think that is even more brilliant to have others come up with their own interpretation while still being a beautiful therapeutic art to you! Love it....

When I saw the first picture I thought of the hurricane clouds or a tornado...it made me feel like chaos..(like how my days feel sometimes) then the leaf falling down seemed like the calm after the storm....how I feel right after I wake up from a wonderful sleep...I guess I just used my life lens to see them....
